What about wipes?
I recommend having 2 cloth wipes per cloth diaper. I personally like to keep a thermos of warm water at the change table that has a drop of pure lavendar oil soap and a drop of tea tree oil in it. Then I have a little bowl I put the wipes into and pour the warm scented water into. That way I am not wasting any water, the solution stays warm and it is right at the change table.
What other accessories do I need?
I recommend 2 wet bags and 2 pail liners. Two of each so that when one is dirty or being washed, you can keep your diapering routine going without any hiccups. You will also need a garbage pail with a tight fitting lid to put your pail liners in which will hold the diapers. I also suggest a few extra inserts/ doublers for night time or long trips.
How Many Cloth Diapers Do I Need?
The number of diapers you need depends on two things. First, the age of your baby and second, how often you plan to wash diapers. You will need fewer diapers in each size as you baby grows.
Another factor to consider is If your baby is a heavy wetter. If this is the case, you will be on the high end of the number shown in the chart below. You can maximize the absorbency of diapers by using a doubler, which can be any extra fabric inserted and placed inside the diaper. I like to fold a small piece of fabric and put it in the front of the diaper for my boys.
You will always want to have a few extra diapers to have on hand while you are washing diapers. . . there have been many times we are out for the whole day unexpectadly and I don't get to washing or drying the diapers on time.
Planning to wash . . . every day every 2 days every 3 days

How do I Wash Cloth Diapers?
It is so easy, I forget about the fact that I am washing them all the time- which is why I have so many spares, otherwise my baby would be bare bummed most of the time! You just remove the diaper pail liner with all the dirty diapers in it, dump it into the wash, including the diaper pail liner. Do a cold rinse, no detergent, then a hot wash with 1/2 to 1/4 the amount of detergent normally recommended. Do an extra rinse then dry on the line or in the dryer! Simlpe, simple, simple!
I just got my diapers, now what?
To begin, all your cloth diapers and accessories need to be washed in hot water with 1/4 of the recommended amount of detergent followed by an extra rinse done before you use them. Products made from natural fibers sucha s cotton, bamboo and hemp need to be prewashed separately to strip them of their natural oils, which will maximize their absorbancy. Hemp and Bamboo doublers / inserts / prefolds will reach their peak performance after they are washed at least 6 times.
What do I do with the diapers once they are dirty?
We recommend a dry pail system. It is really easy. You just need a garbage pail with a tight fitting lid which you line with a pail liner. Once you knock off any poop from the dirty diaper into the toilet, you put the wet diapers into the pail. (Poop from exclusively breastfed babies can be left on the diaper- it disolves and washes out very easily). If you are using pocket diapers you must remember to remove the insert before tossing them into the pail.
